Quaritch and Lyle (beasts of burden versions) lounging close to each other while Lyle reads something out of a book; "Be a Teammate With Yourself" by Dr. Colin Ross. Lyle is explaining something inaudible to Quaritch while Quaritch listens attentively, if a little lost. In the crook of Quaritch's arm Lyle's shell alter, "Cici," lays contently across Miles' stomach. The scene is in pastel colors.

A comic featuring a zoroark with white fur, a blue mane, and pink and light blue highlights. He has scars on his face and hands.

Text reads:
"We might all look the same to you, but we're not! If we're all in the same body though, how do we know for sure?"

The zoroark is shown looking in the mirror, a cat looks back. Text reads:
"When we look in the mirror and expect to see someone else, we know."

The zoroark disgustedly shoves a bottle of orange juice away. Text reads:
"When we suddenly hate the food we loved only 20 minutes ago, we know."

The zoroark squints at writing on paper. Text reads:
"When our eyes don't work quite right that day, we know."

The zoroark is angrily baring his teeth at a piece of paper he's holding, shouting "How?? I can't shade like that?". Text reads:
"When our art doesn't look the same, and the skills we had only yesterday disappear, we know."

The zoroark is happily doing embroidery, making a pattern of a little yellow parrot on some cloth. Text reads:
"When we pick up a hobby we haven't touched in months, we know."

The zoroark is curled up, afraid, in bed. Several voices of several people attempt to comfort him. Text reads:
"When we don't know who, where, or what we are anymore, we know."

The final panel is a bunch of bracelets with letter beads on them, spelling names. Each one was worn by the zoroark in one of the previous panels. Text reads:
"We know we're here. Even if you can't see us. We leave little signs of us all around. You just have to pay attention."

A graphic outlining what dissociation feels like, with 6 icons below the title.

Thought bubble for 'feeling disconnected from your thoughts', people pointing at someone for 'the sense of watching yourself from a distance', a bed for 'the world around you feels dreamlike', a magnifying glass for 'uncertainty about your identity', a missing puzzle piece for 'gaps in your memory', a person for 'feeling little or no physical pain'.

There are lots of reasons why you might experience dissociation. It can be linked to numerous different mental illnesses.

Today is DID Awareness Day. #dissociativeidentitydisorder #cultsurvivor
Today is DID Awareness Day. #dissociativeidentitydisorder #cultsurvivor TW: cult torture survivor. Today is Dissociative Identity Disorder Awareness Day or DID Awareness Day. DID is much more common than many people think, and you may know someone in your life who lives with it. I'm Cheryl Rainfield, author of SCARS, STAINED, HUNTED, VISIONS, and I live with polyfragmented DID as a direct result of the cult torture that I survived as a child, as a teen, as an adult. The parts of me were created as a child and a teen, but some even in later years as the torture continued. DID is not crazy; it is a creative, intelligent way of coping with extreme, ongoing childhood torture and abuse and mind control, a way to escape when we couldn't physically escape, when there was no other way to escape except for splitting off parts in the mind. And that's a huge part of how I survived and how I kept my sanity and how I kept my good soul intact. For me it's been really important to work on inner cooperation and inner communication, and working with other parts inside of me, making sure that I and all parts of me are aware that it's the present and what's going on in the outside world. So I don't lose time anymore, but I worked for a long time to do that, and to work with everyone inside. It also helps me to do rescue work with parts of me, to listen to when they were created and how they were created, like the abuse or torture event, and then to go back and visualize saving them from that and helping them learn a new job if the job or the role that they have is not healthy one. Because I am a cult torture survivor, not all the parts of me were created by me; there are some parts of me that cult intentionally to have very specific jobs and roles that they wanted, like having parts of me who would deny the memories, the abuse and trauma, who would make me doubt it, would keep me from remembering or keep me from talking, or who would hurt me emotionally or physically. Those are very specific jobs that the cult created in me and wanted, and it is common for cult torture survivors who have DID to have some of those jobs or roles inside. It helps so much to work with those parts of us, and to see that they're not scary; they were created because they had to or the cult would have continued and increased the torture and mind control, so it was survival. So their root or their true role underneath it all Is to protect us and help us survive and get through. So when you know that it helps; it helps make it so much easier to work with them even though they can put up a tough facade. I hope that if you know someone who has DID that you will listen to their experience, because everyone's experience can be a little or a lot different, and also read a book about it, or watch some videos, or read some articles. It helps to have people who could hear in a real way. #didawareness #dissociativeidentitydisorder #cultsurvivor #multiplepersonalities #ramcoasurvivor

Switching between selves can happen for many reasons - internal or external, positive or negative. Some systems can control switching, but maybe not always.

Today, we should be acknowledging and validating all experiences of DID!
