Finally, @lyzzybee.bsky.social I can join in with #DeanStreetDecember I have started reading The Weather in Tregulla by Stella Gibbons. She's always a good storyteller. 💙📚 @deanstpress.bsky.social

After #DeanStreetDecember 2025, an update on the state of my @deanstpress.bsky.social library. It's in 3 tags: dsp-read, dsptbr, and dsp-dnf. On the left, dsp-read. On the right, dsptbr (atm) I did not screenshot dsp-dnf, because there are only five. 😁

All done with #DeanStreetDecember for 2025. Thanks again to @deanstpress.bsky.social for the reads, and @lyzzybee.bsky.social for her awesome organising and promoting of the event. If DS(P)D returns next year, so will this bad penny!

20% into "Knock, Murderer, Knock" for #DeanStreetDecember and LOVING it. The most murderous character so far, BY far, is the author. The first murder victim was skewered with a knitting needle, but the author's been savagely skewering her characters since page 1. #Booksky #Mystery #Reading
3.75/5 for "Let Him Lie" by Ianthe Jerrold, my penultimate read for #DeanStreetDecember 2025. A beautifully written Clayton's detective story.

The Woods in Winter by Stella Gibbons featuring a wintry scene of trees beside a house, with a rabbit scurrying across the road.
"Mrs. Threader sat alone on Christmas night, sipping ginger
wine. Everything demanded by Christmas was there; cards, paper decorations, mistletoe, holly."
From The Woods in Winter (1970) by Stella Gibbons.

So far, mine is a quiet summer - a real summer with temperatures in the low to mid-30s C. So reading about Mrs Lorimer's Quiet Summer for #DeanStreetDecember seems extra apt. Even if the only 30C days Clavering would have known would've had a - in front of the of the number! 😆 #Booksky #Reading
4.25/5 @thestorygraph.com for "This Little Measure" the 6th @deanstpress.bsky.social Sara Woods reprint and book 7/10 for my #DeanStreetDecember This Little Measure is two: the number of characters I liked.

4/5 @thestorygraph.com for The Swinging Death by Brian Flynn book 6/10 for my #DeanStreetDecember An entertaining tale full of twists and tangles @deanstpress.bsky.social should have included a trigger warning for Inspector McMorran's icky personality flaw but🤣

A biography I read largely in honour of my late father brought up the halfway mark in my #DeanStreetDecember - thanks for the trip down memory lane, @deanstpress.bsky.social

3.75/5 @thestorygraph.com for "Four Gardens". My third @deanstpress.bsky.social Margery Sharp was insufficiently sharp for this bitter and twisted old cynic #DeanStreetDecember #BookSky #Reading

a passage of text on a Kobo Sage e-reader, from "Four Gardens" by Margery Sharp. Text as follows: Within so complicated a system the inhabitants of Morton had naturally to tread with care; but so practiced were their steps, so keen their social noses, that no gaffe of any magnitude had occurred since 1879. In that disorderly year, indeed, there had been two: the seduction of a Major’s daughter by a chemist, and the engagement of a grocer’s daughter to a gentleman’s son.

VERY early into "Four Gardens" my 4th @deanstpress.bsky.social for #DeanStreetDecember this passage suggesting I'm REALLY going to like it. Me being me, the title of the book automatically made me think of the place on the right. 😀 #Reading #middlebrow #Booksky
4.25/5 @thestorygraph.com for "Death Comes to Cambers" by E.R. Punshon. Book 3/10 for my #DeanStreetDecember another winner

Just 5 days before #DeanStreetDecember, and this year, I'm doing less AND more 10/10
LESS reading from @deanstpress.bsky.social (or, for the pedants, fewer books) but MORE authors, also ten. BIG thanks to @lyzzybee.bsky.social for hosting AGAIN: We who are about to die-ve into reading salute you
