A photo from above and to the side of a black and white moth with a golden sheen as it rests on a light blue painted wood surface. The moth has bluntly pointed forewings which are black with a slight golden sheen and have two ovate white spots near the leading edge. The hindwing is also black with a golden sheen and has a single ovate white spot just forward of the median area. The abdomen is slender and upcurved towards the back, it is mostly black towards the front with a white stripe which is next to the two white spots on the hindwing connecting them, and lighter colored towards the end. The head is black on top with white underneath and the eyes are black.

A #moth in genus #Desmia, either funeralis or maculalis I did not check the belly on this one which is how these two species are differentiated. I have seen both species here in South #Georgia.

A black moth with large white spots on the wings. The moth has a long stretched out rhomboidal shape with it's wings spread wide. The wings and body are black with a silvery sheen. There are 2 elliptical shaped white spots on each forewing. There is a single white spot on each hind wing which touch a white stripe on the abdomen

A beautiful #moth in the genus #Desmia. It's either D. funeralis, or D. maculalis (the larvae of both feed on grape plants, )which are almost identical except for the markings on the bottom of the abdomen which i did not know at the time...😐
