The skating world got hit twice this week. First the plane crash and then the death of the great Dick Button. I loved listening to him comment during skating competitions. Here he is in 1952. #RIP #DickButton

#DickButton is an Olympic legend and an icon in the sport. More than that, he is one of my heroes and idols. Most of all he was a dear friend of 29 years, and how lucky was I? I’ll treasure not only the years that I worked with but also the great memories since.
I'll miss him a great deal.

After everything that happened, Dick Button passed away today. He was so insightful and entertaining on figure skating coverage. And he owned the production company that produced Battle of The Network Stars. RIP #DickButton
#DickButton was an obvious interview wish when I wrote #SkatingonAir. While that didn't happen-- he was writing his own book at the time, among other reasons- the personal stories shared with me by ABC and NBC folks alike fully underscored his tremendous importance in #figureskating. #RIPDickButton
