One of the lessons I learned from #DisorderedCosmos going out into the world was from the people who picked it up and did not usually read pop sci (thank you!!!). They were interested in my life -- as a scientist who speaks out about justice (about which I selectively share *some* things).
As I quote my mom @mprescod.bsky.social saying in the epigraph of #DisorderedCosmos, "People need to know that we live in a universe that is bigger than the bad things that are happening to us."
That is part of what #scicomm, especially in βοΈπ does. π§ͺ

My first book, #DisorderedCosmos, is kind of a trojan horse. Some people picked up because they were curious about my Black feminist analysis of how particle physics and cosmology happen. They have to learn some science along the way! Other people pick it up for the opposite reason/get the opposite!
And yes this does mean that if you already own one, you can bring your copy of #DisorderedCosmos for me to sign!
