Election campaign stands of several political parties in the centre of Helsinki. There are many flags with the photos of national candidates.
#EuropeDay celebrations in the centre of Helsinki - and clear signs that the #EP2024 elections campaign has (finally) started.
Unfortunately, it is entirely focused on the national candidates. No pictures of any #EUleadcandidates, no logo of any europarty anywhere...
There were eight lead candidates at the #MaastrichtDebate, but unfortunately only a few tens of thousands of viewers. The debate did provide some interesting insights on the candidates’ positions, but challenges remain.

At their campaign launch event, Volt Europa (@volteuropa.bsky.social) have presented two #EUleadcandidates – @dboeselager.bsky.social and @sophieintveld.bsky.social – as well as a symbolic "transnational list".
Next step: ECR party meeting, 14 April
The #EP2024 primary season is over, all parties have nominated their #EUleadcandidates.
Among them are two commissioners, several MEPs, no members of a national government, more men than women, and an alarming number of Germans.
