image from an address by Taoiseach, Charles J. Haughey at the official opening of the Knowth National Monument 15th July. Text reads: Address by the taoiseach, mr. charles J Haughey, T.D., at the official opening of the Knowth National Monument Complex, Monday 15th July 1991 at 11am. Ladies & gentlemen, It is with particular pleasure that I welcome you this morning to this complex of ancient monuments at Knowth. The Royal County of Meath has always played a central role in our history. Here in this county we are reminded of the Neolithic builders of the great 5000 year old passage tombs, of the Celtic High Kings at Tara, The early Christian Monks of Kells & Bective, the mediaeval Normans of Trim. It was here at the Boyne water that the great decisive clash of kings took place in 1690; it was from the villages and townlands of Meath that the United Irishmen and their followers went out in 1798; and it was on the broad plains of this county that Daniel O'Connell held his monster meetings in the last century.

In 1909 the Salvation Army Limelight Department, an Australian film studio in Melbourne, made #Heroes of the Cross. Its more famous 1900 predecessor, Soldiers of the Cross is sometimes called the world's first feature film. It wasn't, as it was more like a multimedia experience.
