I think it was a huge mistake to make our society so car-dependent. But man. The Discourse today is a good reminder that when it comes to roadways policy, otherwise progressive anti-car people quickly become some of the most pro-carceral, anti-civil liberties people on the planet.

Her home state has this campaign called #EndTheStreakTX because at least one person has died every single day in Texas since Nov. 7, 2000 from traffic violence!

40,000 American killed every year. Including my grandparents before I was born. Everyone of those deaths are preventable. Pick a side.

In memory of the 4,167 lives lost in traffic crashes on Texas roads in the past 12 months, I'm following the lead of @farmandcity.bsky.social and walking 4,167 steps as I reflect and strengthen my resolve to demand policies PROVEN to save lives.

Tomorrow (11/17) I will walk 4,167 steps in Denton to remember the 4,167 lives lost in traffic crashes in Texas over the past 12 months.

No one should feel the pain of losing a loved one in a sudden violent event. I hope you'll join me in demanding change.

Since Nov 7, 2000, someone has died daily on TX roads. That pattern inspired #EndTheStreakTX, TxDOT’s road safety campaign.

But TxDOT says nothing about *its own* responsibility to reduce crashes by building safer roads – all onus lies on individuals.
