Foundationally, it's elemental. The ether is in everything. People can manifest it using different elements (casting fire, earth, air, etc), or they can channel it toward more physical strength, but it all comes back to this sort of elemental building-block.

As I popped off the carton lid and began shoveling mint chocolate chip into my face, he gave a small chuckle. “Hm?” I hummed, my mouth full. “This reminds me of the first time I took you fishing,” he said fondly. I furrowed my brow, not sure how consolatory ice cream made a path to fishing. “What do you mean?” I asked, taking another giant spoonful. Whit took his own spoonful of ice cream as he contemplated. “You must have been four, and I was- well, I was young… Anyway, I was working at the academy so that I wouldn’t have to leave the village on missions, but I still felt guilty about not spending enough time with you, so I decided to take you fishing. I had actually expected you to get bored quickly, but you were surprisingly into it—you were a pretty easygoing kid; thanks for that.” “Mm,” I said noncommittally. “I didn’t blossom into anxiety until adulthood.” “Huh,” Whit half-chuckled, taking another thoughtful bite here and there as he continued his story. “You caught a few fish—I may have helped a bit—and you were having a great time, but then, when you went to cast the line again, the hook got caught in your thumb.” “Agh!” I gasped, reflexively curling my fingers around my thumb and holding that against my chest. “I don’t remember that!” “I’m glad,” he replied. “You were in pain, and you wouldn’t stop crying for at least half an hour. It was hard to see. It wasn’t that bad, though—it didn’t bleed too much, it just took a quick bandage to fix. I took you back home, and we sat at the kitchen table and had mint ice cream until you felt better.” “Well, that’s nice,” I said, smiling softly. “It was,” Whit agreed. “It is.” He kissed my head. “Plus,” he continued, “once you remembered that you had caught several fish, and that we got to eat them, you couldn’t wait to go back out and fish again.”

Okay this one is long, and also not really a WIP, but it's such a lovely moment between Mari and her dad. There is a throughline of Whittaker (Dad) giving emotional support and pep talks.
Mari is having A Bad Time, hence the ice cream.

The interior of the shop was pale gold and ivory. The faint sound of piano music drifted through the air, along with the not-so-subtle smell of perfume.

“Here,” he said, digging into the bag once more. He retrieved a vial of pink tablets and took one out for me. “Take this and get some sleep.”

I closed the door behind me and looked around, reminiscing; birthday cards and a few poor art attempts were pinned on the pale-yellow walls. The bed was neatly made—okay, so it wasn’t exactly how I had left it—and a few stuffed animals sat on top of the plain white bedspread.

Aivry’s house stood out because it was the smallest in the row, but it was a pop of color, with desert plants decorating the entirety of the little front yard. Succulents and cacti with flowers of yellow, red, and orange herded us toward the front door.

I busied myself with washing off the brush, as if avoiding looking at Eloise would mean that she wasn’t there. The mess of sand and red paint coming off of the brush looked like a mix of earth and blood, and it made me uneasy.

We traveled quickly through hunting forests, farming villages, and great swaths of untouched fields, until the landscape began to slope and layer, a scalloped palette of greens silvered by the moonlight.

As I got up and prepared myself a cup of strong black tea, I thought about how little my life had changed in the years since leaving the academy. Junie was still out traveling and living a life of mystery and intrigue, and I was still pacing on the sidelines.

She reappeared, and indeed, a white plastic bucket was in her hands. “Let me know when you’ve had enough,” she told me, sharply dumping the bucket over, sending ice cold water cascading over me.

Between the florist and the next building over, in what originally must have been a dingy alley, a ramshackle wooden structure had been erected, and it was decorated with sheer purple curtains that were draped at odd angles around the entrance. A sign out front read FORTUNES TOLD HERE.

He was focusing his mana into his legs, and the sheer amount of mana was obvious as his lower half had taken on a visible blue glow. He plummeted forward, digging up the sand floor and leaving uneven notches behind with every step.

When we entered the office—a pale green room that looked beautiful when natural light came through the window but turned a sickly color when the fluorescent bulb overhead was the only light source—we were greeted by a tall older woman who had far too much pep to be working in an office.

She was carrying a long green staff, her weapon of choice. It faded to a darker color on the ends, where swirls had been carved into the wood. Something about it reminded me of snake venom.

I understood Rhu's point--that these were powerful individuals whose motivations we couldn't be sure of--but at the same time, I didn't know what casting aside the entire Blaze would accomplish; where would that leave me? Would Junie and I still get along? I couldn't imagine a future without her close by my side. Maybe I was being selfish.

This was a residential building with a rooftop umbrella, and I adjusted the angle against the sun before sitting down. Junie sat next to me. She exhaled. "I just feel like we could be doing more. Letting our hair down."

Whittaker was by no means old, but he had hit whatever internal timer caused people to start collecting picture frames along the walls and on every empty surface. On an end table, a recent photo of the two of us caught my eye. It had been taken during the last Magic Dragon Festival. He had his arm across my shoulders, and I had an arm around his side. We had been waiting for the picture to be taken when he said to me, “Hey.” “What?” I had asked. “So, the Lords of the Big Three all walked into a bar… They should have ducked.” I paused for a moment, allowing that joke to wash over me, then laughed loudly. That was when the photo was taken.

Ether—the culmination of space, time, mana, and life. Call it science or magic, but for those living in Etheri villages, harnessing their mana and practicing the old ways, time seemed to move slower than in the outside world.

Leon had an armful of scrolls, and he was in a rush to place them all into a bag that Eloise was holding open for him. A village Etheri was on the rooftops, on an intercept course. He jumped from the last roof, casting a soma in the air, and like an apparition, the form of a giant ram’s head materialized around him, and it slammed into Dane’s haunch. Dane’s back leg buckled, but his momentum carried him forward in a slide along the ground, and he was able to scramble back to his feet and keep running. However, the jolt had caused Leon to drop a scroll, and it spun off through the air. Leon reached out for it, but it was out of his grasp. He created a clone, which poofed into existence standing on Dane’s rear, arm extended, and leapt from Dane to catch the scroll in midair. He twisted as he fell, chucking the scroll back toward Dane and the other Leon, who was ready to catch it. It was an impressive move, and it almost worked, but the scroll came undone, unraveling and losing its aerodynamic shape, the paper catching in the wind and fluttering sadly to the ground. Leon’s clone fell too, into the mob below, and it was quickly destroyed.

What you'll find in the Sims 4 gallery. The Blaze Base. 8 beds, 4 baths. The location is from Etheri (Book 1).
The ground floor. Kitchen/dining, pantry, den, bathroom, living room.
First underground level. Family room, closet, half-bath, laundry, Leon's office.
Lowest level. 8 beds, 2 baths. You will find a few personal touches in their rooms. Not pictured: the upstairs (exercise area, training area, conference room).
