I’ve been taking pictures of magnolias in bloom for 37 years now, half my life.

They bloom in the dead of the cold, gray, rainy winter here. They bloom before the daffodils & crocuses.

Every year, I wonder how much more beauty can I find in the same old same old? And yet...

Magnolias in bud on my windowsill. Never brought them in before.

Yesterday, on my 3rd visit, i picked this little branch from this untrimmed baby tree around the corner.

The buds will open into a star and they’re in my fave deep magenta coloration.
