The #fibula or calf bone was a leg bone on the lateral side of the tibia, to which it was connected above and below. It was the smaller of the two bones and, in proportion to its length, the most slender of all the long bones.
The photo is of a sterling silver fibula pin against a black background. It was forged my me in 2017. It was fabricated with a single piece of wire with no solder joins. There is a green stone bead on the pin stem as a decorative element. Fibula were historically used by the ancient Romans to keep their cloaks closed.

Het gaat om scherven van #Romeins aardewerk, een #fibula uit de eerste eeuw na Christus en een graf uit de Romeinse tijd. Ook vonden de archeologen er een #crematiegraf met urn, uit vermoedelijk de vroege #middeleeuwen. Mogelijk is de locatie langere tijd in gebruik geweest als grafveld. 2/
