A screengrab of my fluxbox desktop on OpenSUSE linux

I've been playing with this heavy old laptop, but I love the outcome. #Fluxbox on #OpenSUSE #Tumbleweed is getting the absolute most out of the modest 4gb of RAM. The only upgrade is a SSD replacement of the mechanical drive. Good as new!

There also is an unofficial #MXlinux spin available which comes with #Fluxbox right away.

For tablet PCs, #GNOME is a nice desktop environment. I also like the GDM3 login.

On a very poor spec PC I loaded #Fluxbox (available with MX configuration: Choose the maintainer’s config when asked) and removed #Xfce. (I also like #iceWM, but there are issues with the authentication dialog.)

I installed #ubuntu, never went back from this SUPER IMPORTANT decision for personnal use

The switch was rendered beautifully thanks to #fluxbox
Allowed me to have a super minimal & frankly extremely beautiful zen desktop

After years of Ubuntu & Debian, I tried Nix & NixOS
Adopted: Linux #NixOS

This year blind. and for that being shunned by US tech communities, I could get no help. so I built a stack on my own to do computing again, using salvaged hardware, alpine linux, #X11, and #fluxbox. I also built some new frameworks around ideas of simplicity and mission flexibility.

I've been playing with #OpenBSD a lot lately. I have kind of a minimal setup that I wanted to show off. I put on #fluxbox and built a pretty minimal menu while also figuring out how to modify the #xenodm greeter.

I was more interested in accessibility and consistent appearance so I went back to X11 / fluxbox. and built up a clean theme that includes visible borders and minimal use of color. The one weakness of #fluxbox is it dims menu fonts a bit, which is something I want to make a style option

Only a monster would work on #X11 these days. After finding mouse motion broken in #icewm, I had started on doing a new accessible workstation around #fluxbox, which is kind of the #vim of window managers... It's all pretty monstrous.
