TIL that "compositing" has slowed down my #xfce since forever. I don't see any change after disabling it, just that everything is a lot faster 😅

I'm giving #XFCE a new try and I'm impressed! 1. Almost as snappy as #dwm. 2. Lots of customizability, looks good after tweaking. But I have issues switching between light/dark modes, switching GTK theme leaves apps (browser specifically) stuck in dark mode & it's quite stubborn. Any tips? #linux

Last night, I tried installing the #KDE #Plasma edition of #Manjaro #Linux on my laptop, over the #Xfce version. I got an error 32 notice stating there was an issue with the bootloader.

So I tried going back to Xfce. Same deal.

I finally fixed it. It was #xfce starting its own the ssh-agent. It can be disabled like this (or via a #homeManager equivalent):

xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /startup/ssh-agent/enabled -n -t bool -s false […]
