The image showcases a collection of twelve framed self portraits by British artist David Hockney arranged in a grid formation against a teal blue background.

The self portraits are iPad drawings printed on paper and mounted in aluminum, each featuring a close-up or half-body depiction of David Hockney.

This painting could be seen from April 9 to August 31, 2025 at Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, France, which hosted "David Hockney 25", an exhibition with paintings in a variety of media created from 1955-2025.

The style of the paintings is characterized by bold brushstrokes and expressive use of color, suggesting a modern approach.

The subjects of the portraits are all variations of David Hockney himself. He is depicted in different poses and expressions, sometimes wearing glasses and various articles of clothing, including hats and jackets. The portraits are dominated by warm colors like red, pink, and yellow. Some portraits show David Hockney looking directly at the viewer, while others depict him in more contemplative or expressive moods, with features like smoking a cigarette, writing, or with a surprised expression.

The self portraits are arranged in a 3x4 grid, with each painting framed in a thin black frame. The arrangement creates a cohesive presentation, allowing for a visual study of the subject over time. The teal blue background provides a contrasting backdrop, emphasizing the color palette of the paintings.

The picture shows the incredible "A Bigger Splash" which is a large 1967 pop art painting by British painter David Hockney.
Measuring 242.5 centimetres (95.5 inch) by 243.9 centimetres (96.0 inch), it depicts a swimming pool beside a modern house, disturbed by a large splash of water created by an unseen figure who has apparently just jumped in from a diving board.

This painting could be seen from April 9 to August 31, 2025 at Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, France, which hosted "David Hockney 25", an exhibition with paintings in a variety of media created from 1955-2025.

"A Bigger Splash" shows a typical California day – warm and sunny, with a cloudless blue sky. In the background, two palm trees loom over a large single-story house, with flat roof and large sliding glass doors, in front of which an empty director's chair with thin crossed legs stands on a wide pink patio. A shadow under the chair suggests that the sun is high in the sky, around noon. In the foreground, a yellow diving board slants away from lower right corner, leading the viewer's gaze towards the centre of a large swimming pool, where water fountains into the air, capturing the moment right after someone has dived in. The diver is not visible, presumably still under the water. The chair lies further back along the same diagonal line. A thickening in the white line atop the building's flat roof emphasizes the place where the diver has entered the water.

The canvas – almost a perfect square – is dominated by the strong vertical and horizontal lines of the trees, the building, and the edge of the pool; it is divided evenly into the sky, building and patio in the upper half, and the pool and diving board in the lower half. The rectilinear composition is broken by the oblique thrust of the diving board. The calmness of the overall composition contrasts with the violent explosion of water caused by diver.

#fondationlouisvuitton So, I got my reservstion todaytickets for David Hockney at FLV. Had to cue 1 hour in the sun. ‘It are the final days, sir. That’s why!’ No! Too many people in too little time with too few staff. It’s a disgrace.
