Expressionistic painting in vivid primary colors depicting a green forest scene under a blazing red orange sky, yellow highlights and blue shadows throughout. The green path and ground beside it are smooth and glossy but the treelines on either side are rendered in rough and energetic scratches for trunks and whorling green flamelike shapes for the treetops, swirled through with tongues of red, orange and yellow highlights and deep blue shadows. The sky is also deeply textured and flamelike, globs of red, orange and yellow paint pulled into the shapes of flames, some bright red pointed paint globs even extending off the upper edges of the canvas.

Back when it used to actually rain.
Sparkling water in beautiful shades of aqua tumble over rocks turning to a frothy white as it crashes over the huge boulders. A Red Currant bush in blossom hangs over the bank to add to the refreshing scene.
Trilliums peeking out from the forest duff and ferns in all their springtime glory.
There's just something about springtime when everything seems to wake up and sparkle....

A wide, sunlit mountain valley stretches outward beneath a clear, uninterrupted blue sky. The foreground is dense with layered vegetation—young conifers rising in dark green spires among lighter, almost luminous shrubs and deciduous growth. The textures vary from soft, rounded thickets to the sharper, upright forms of pine and fir, creating a woven pattern of greens. Beyond this, the land opens into a gentle meadow-like basin, its surface smoother and brighter, suggesting grasses or low vegetation catching the full strength of midday light. The terrain then lifts gradually into forested hills, where the trees become more uniform and closely packed, forming a continuous dark green band. In the distance, a rounded mountain rises, its upper slopes thinning into patches where rock or lingering snow shows through near the summit. The ridgeline behind it fades into a cooler blue tone, softened by distance and atmospheric haze. Scattered among the living trees are a few bare, gray trunks—standing remnants of older growth—adding vertical contrast and a sense of time passing within the landscape. The entire scene is still and expansive, defined by layered depth: bright foreground, open middle ground, and receding, blue-tinted mountains beyond.

The image shows a trail through a mixed forest near Lake Placid in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. Mixed wood forests represent a transition zone between the forested wetlands on lower elevations and northern hardwood forests, which occupy the better drained, gentle slopes at a slightly higher elevation. In these in-between environments, conifers such as Red Spruce and Balsam Fir mix with Eastern Hemlock, as well as deciduous trees, including Red Maple, Yellow Birch, and other hardwoods.

Built in the 1850s, there is no road that this bridge connects to & there never was. The deck of the bridge was never laid & the steel hawsers were never fitted. These two piers sit, alone buried in the woods - almost a gateway to another world. It's a strange place indeed...
