Good to see that @freeukgen.bsky.social has joined here on #Bluesky. Theyβre the people behind #FreeBMD and #FreeCen. I bet youβve used their resources! #GenHour
Is www.freebmd2.org.uk being really slow for anyone else? I've gone back to the old site for now; all those seconds waiting for a page to load really add up.

According to the BFI, @britannica.com and civil records, Rowan Atkinson was actually born in Gosforth/Newcastle and not Consett as widely reported.

Wow. I like it. π
An 'improvement' that's actually an improvement! π₯³ #FreeBMD
The new, more accessible #FreeBMD website is up! Check out the About page for all the improvements.

I want to be excited by the new #FreeBMD website coming tomorrow especially since had a fascinating talk from those behind it but I'm so used to what I know now that think it's going to be a big change ...... πππ
Yep. I now always check to either #FreeBMD (or the GRO now it's more up to date) and use the quarter to check which way around the date should be, but that only gives you a quarter which doesn't help with, say 2 March/3 Feb. #AncestryHour. But the errors are proliferating in online trees.
Yeesh, that's rubbish! Even if I've got Ancestry open in front of me, I'll always defer to #FreeBMD (although they're only up to 1998 for deaths). #AncestryHour
I think my closest "Viking" surname is Booth and it's definitely a northern name - with Yorkshire accounting for 25% of the Booth births on #FreeBMD #AncestryHour
