View to S (W. Mayo coast; Renyvle in NW Connemara; Inishbofin to RHS) over the Atlantic-facing cliffs. The cliffs have a vertical profile of 120-170 m for almost 1 km.
End July 2025 retraced my steps to #Inishturk, Co #Mayo on @wildatlanticway.bsky.social. Weather not as good as in April, but managed to get reasonable photos, according to my own lights! #Fulmars still plentiful on western cliffs; single chicks in some of nests. Inishturk awe inspiring as ever

At the start of week 2 (Day 8) of #30DaysWild it’s about noticing what’s around you whatever you’re doing. For us a mixed open at #BamburghCastleGC where I love the gurgling noise of the #fulmars as you walk up the 3rd and seeing them soar over the sea.

The sun took a while to reach Norfolk today & North wind was fierce on Hunstanton beach but managed to locate the 5 #Shorelark which were distant & mobile, the #GlaucusGull on remains of dead seal & bonus #Fulmars on the cliffs. Also found some #Redpoll at #Sculthorpe this afternoon #NorfolkBirding

I've started doing a lot more outreach with school students lately about my work on #fulmars, and while I've worked on some charismatic species in my career, I can't overstate the immediate engagement power of telling a room full of kids that your bird projectile vomits stomach oil at predators 😂
