A head of corn. One end bursting with black and purpley-blue bulbous growths and Oh My Gods it looks like a 1960s horror B-Movie right before the pod people turn up.

Continuing the food theme, I learned about a new edible fungus today. This is called a 'Corn Smut'. It is apparently considered a delicacy in Mexico in quesadillas and such.
