A tiny yellow dragon hiding in a blooming Dandelion - its wings look like the petals of Dandelion, he is barely visible hidden in the flower. Over the flower a title says "LET ME GROW!" A little more info on the piece: This is a piece calling out weed-culture in Europe specifically. Dandelions aren't native all around the world - in the US they are in fact an invasive species and should be torn out in favor of flowers native to America. But in countries like Germany, Dandelions are native and an extremely vital part of our ecosystem. The vast majority of plants cultured in german gardens are neophyts, species that are not native to the region and absolutely useless for native biodiversity. Our insects and birds DEPEND on us planting and reintroducing native species to our gardens again. The Dandelion is one of MANY native wildflowers that gets perceived as an unpleasant weed, when it is in fact a welcome sight like many other blooming "weeds" in spring. If you are living in Europe and happen to have a garden, please let wild flowers grow. Inform yourself which species are native in your country and which plants in your garden are not. We have a lot of invasive species in our gardens that we need to rid ourselves from, such as Canadian goldenrod for example. Otherwise these plants will continue to spread and leave no room for our native flowers, putting them at risk of extinction. Supporting nature is easy once you know how to do it! Every single one of us can do something to help support native biodiversity. Starting with letting daisies, dandelions, nettles or garlic mustard grow and bloom instead of tearing it out.
Went outside to see that my neighbor had torn out a lot of dandelions - which reminded me of this piece I made a couple years back. Dandelions aren't evil, they're incredibly vital for HUNDREDS of species of bugs! Let them bloom! Every native flower is a welcome one. π±πΌπ·πβ¨π

Two borage-dragons land in a blooming japanese cherry tree. The female on the left is breathing green flames to keep a distance between her and the more vibrantly colored male to the right approaching her. A clover dragon is in the front left corner watching them.
It's spring!!! πΈπ

A field of Snowdrops from a bug's perspective. A family of Snowdrop dragons is hanging upside down from a plant stem, the male spreading its wings and tailfeather protectively around his mate and their baby, which camouflages them and makes the family appear to be a blooming snowdrop from afar.
The Snowdrops are finally emerging!

A flock of Sunflower dragons during a sunset, high in the sky, migrating to north africa to escape the cold temperatures of Europe during winter. They will return to their old territories once the warmth of spring has settled back in in Europe, starting in late April or the beginning of May. This illustration was originally a book calendar illustration for the month of November. The calendar was released exclusively in Germany, 2018. The Gardendragon book series ran from 2017-2022 under a small german publishing house. Due to the pandemic causing a major shift in the direction of my old publishing house, the rights to the series have been returned to me and the books are now ready and available to be republished with new refined and rewritten manuscripts.
Some more of my #gardendragons ππΊ With the arrival of fall, the European Sunsnatcher π» (Sunflower dragons) return to their main breeding grounds in North Africa. During migration season, the usually solitary dragon joins a flock of its own kind to raise its chances of survival.

A fairy-like dragon with a pink plumage looking in utter SHOCK at a great bumblebee robbing nectar from a red clover bud. It has bitten the buds open close to the stem to get easier access to its nectar without pollinating the plant. This is a recorded behaviour by the way, some bumblebees find it easier to access nectar from clover that way, since their buds are made out of basically a bunch of LONG TUBES with the nectar deep down inside. Not all wild bees have tongues long enough to reach said nectar and thus try to reach it through less appropriate ways. Some do it just because it means less effort on their part. #digitalart #art #fantasy #dragons #entomology
The Clover dragon pushes the bumble bee off its red clover to protect the plant and sticks its long tongue out as the bumble bee falls off the flower in confusion #gartendrachen #bees #kidlitart
More of my #gardendragons! π²πΊ Clover Sprites actually get along greatly with bees, the dragons rely on their pollination of their territory. Unfortunately some bumblebees tend to bite clover buds open for easier access to the nectar - and thus get into conflict with the dragons living in said clover
A young bipedal dragon covered in pink petal-like feathers with a pair of long feathered ears and turquoise-greenish eyes. Freya, a clover dragon, also known as Clover Sprites, dragons so tiny they can hide in clover and were considered to be fae for the longest time. She's the sister of my main book protagonist Fio.
Here's some rough concept art I made of one of my book characters this year - Freya, one of my red clover dragons! Got a lot of unfinished sketches lying around of the rest of the family, hopefully I get around to finishing them someday

There's just so much art to share here, I'm having a hard time picking what to post! But since it's spooky month, how about an oldie of a Tropaeolum Dragon growing nettles to mark its territory? #Gardendragons
