Margaret and Frances Macdonald were Scottish sisters who helped pioneer Scottish Art Nouveau. The Macdonald Sisters and their Glasgow School of Art classmates Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Harold MacNair were Art Nouveau’s Glasgow Four.

Image of stylized illustration with yellowed canvas textures and raised and embossed line work. At the bottom, circles and shapes over a large panel suggest a portrait for a princess in repose, with five additional panels covered in vines that descrease toward the top revealing the towers of a castle and a mooon with a crescent moon cross guard, as well as a circle for an intended portrait of a prince.
Got some progress done on my next project during my livestream and for a couple hours afterwards. A stylized piece on Sleeping Beauty inspired by the Glasgow Four.
It has a long way to go, but I'm excited about what's there so far!

A digital art piece with four panels on a linen textured background, telling key moments of the Little Red Riding Hood tale. Top left is a portrait of Little Red with stylized flowers, bottom left is a large eye looking at a path with nearby trees, bottom right is a stylized bed in blues with a split mask of Grandma and the wolf at the top center, top right is an image of a bloody axe amongst abstract trees.
New piece! An amalgamation of Little Red Riding Hood, the Glasgow Four style of Art Nouveau, and me.

Work-in-Progress piece of a heavily textured and stylized abstract piece of three figures in front of a large vertical sideways eye with a suggested moon above and inderminate unfinished detail of sweeping lines at the bottom. Colors are muted browns, tans, sepias, and cream yellows.
I got this done on my livestream tonight, and I had to stop myself from progressing further so I could save it for my next stream!! I'm so excited about this piece! Inspired by The Bound and the Broken series and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh. Through me. LOL!
Series of four work-in-progress images of an illustration featuring a woman in a red cloak walking through a stylized landscape with a tree, leaves, a sky, and floating floral rosettes.
Unfinished Illustration of a woman in a red cloak on a heavily textured and distressed stained canvas, done in a pseudo-Art Nouveau style.
It's coming together. Slowly. But it's getting there. A lot more work to insert painted colors and textures, plus finishing touches. But I'm happy with how it's progressing thus far.

Illustrated phone wallpaper featuring a trail meandering through some flowers and trees, stylized to hearken to the Scottish style of Art Nouveau popularized by Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh Colors are a dusty brown, blue green, dirty yellow. In the distance are rolling stylized hills with stripes of color. Overall very textural and gritty.
Illustrated phone wallpaper of a stylized Art Nouveau trellis of raised silver gray lines with ornamental circles and leaf-shapes of inset green resin pools. Behind the trellis is a textured paper background with red and dark green watercolor washes.
Made alternatives for #FolktaleWeekTrail, sorta (?) inspired by Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh.
Made a phone wallpaper version, and a riff on the style. (It turned out sorta like an old 3.0/3.5 D&D rulebook cover. Huh.)

The more I learn about the Glasgow Four, and particularly Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh and her processes, the more I am in AWE.
How did she come up with this?!? What led her to figure this out?!?
