What a beautiful day to celebrate love! We rejoice with Gregory and Jef as they begin their journey together in marriage, embraced by the love and support of their Glendale family. - This is also a historic moment for our church as we gathered to honor the first same-gender marriage in this sanctuary. As we celebrate, we also pause to acknowledge and repent for the decades of injustice and harm carried out in the name of God - within The United Methodist Church and far too many other denominations and churches that continues today. To the countless people who devoted years of tireless work, heartfelt prayer, and unwavering advocacy to make their spiritual home within The UMC, a more inclusive and affirming movement to experience God’s love and grace fully, without barriers, within the life of the church: you are the reason we can celebrate today.
