A historic grey-stone church, the Tron Kirk in Edinburgh, stands in bright sunshine under a clear, vivid blue sky. The building fills most of the frame, viewed straight on from street level. Its tall central clock tower rises high above the roof, topped with a slender spire and a small weather vane. The clock face is white with black numerals and shows just after ten past eight. The church façade is plain but solid, with a large arched window panel in the centre and several narrow, pointed spires along the roofline. To the left and right are older multi-storey stone buildings with many windows. Bare tree branches frame the left edge of the scene, and the strong sunlight casts deep shadows on the lower front wall of the church, suggesting crisp, good weather.
