I saw H is for Hawk movie last night @ The Flicks. I loved it because I’m a birder. It wasn’t an epic movie, but it was fascinating to learn about Goshawks, delve into grief. Grief is inevitable. It’s takes nature to guide process. #birding #birdsofprey #goshawks #natureislife

🌍🌏 Shikra (Tachyspiza badia) The shikra is a small bird of prey (26-30 cm long) with short, rounded wings and a narrow, somewhat long tail. Adults have grey upperparts and whitish underparts with fine rufous bars; males possess red irises, while females have yellowish-orange eyes and are slightly larger. Juveniles are browner with streaked breasts. Widely distributed across Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, Shikras inhabit diverse environments including forests, farmlands, and urban areas. They are typically seen singly or in pairs. Their flight involves characteristic flaps and glides. Agile hunters, they often perch silently, then execute rapid, stealthy attacks on small birds, lizards, and insects.
