Now meteorlogical Spring, I was reminded of A W Boyd's classic book about nature "A country Parish: #GreatBudworth", published in 1951. Following themes of natural history it is a snapshot of the environment here in Cheshire in the 1950s.

Thomas Cooper, vicar in Great Budworth in 1593 wrote his ‘The Mystery of Witchcraft’ having witnessed the ‘possession’ of 12 year old Thomas Harrison in Northwich. It was case so extreme that it would influence theology on witchcraft for more than 100 years!
