I’m sorry it’s a bit late this week @marcpetty.bsky.social
Busy day at Glos Hospital yesterday. Anyway, I’d like your opinion on this rather neat grit salt

I’ts a vandalised bin this week. As you can see the top has been removed and some miscreant has affixed a BRILLIANT 100% ATTENDANCE THIS WEEK sticker on the bin. What does it mean? Is vandalism of GritSaltBins a common problem? What do you make of it Marc?

Yes, it is definitely bin day on Castle Street tomorrow.
There is also a fine example of graffitied street furniture

A yellow grit salt bin @marcpetty.bsky.social can you identify it?

A yellow Glasdon grit bin, replete with an aging, cautionary 'slow down' sticker sits astride the pavement on Little Ness Road in the north Shropshire village of Ruyton XI Towns.

It's mid-March, spring is in the air and a beautiful cherry tree, laden with pink blossom, stands in the wayside verge just beyond the bin. Lovely, innit?

Today we're about halfway along the minor road between Walford Heath and Fenemere, at the point where the lane crosses the Shrewsbury-Chester railway.

Here, sandwiched between the parapet of overbridge 460 and the sign pointing towards the bridleway along the War Brook (which leads towards Baschurch) a gleaming, new yellow Glasdon Nestor 400 grit bins stands ready to serve the local public on this tricky stretch of highway.

Today we're on the edge of Wellington town centre, on the junction of Waterloo Road and Constitution Hill.

A yellow Sportsmark beehive grit bin stands against the parapet of the King Street railway bridge (which carries this medieval thoroughfare over the Shrewsbury-Wolverhampton railway), while a white Victorian house - currently home to Kaz's Cutz, a gents barber - can be seen in the distance, on the corner of King Street and Constitution Hill.

A quick amble up Constitution Hill will take you to Wrekin College, a private FE institution for day pupils and boarders. Founded in 1880 by Sir John Bayley, such luminaries as Brian Epstein, actor Harry Andrews, and Central News' Bob Hall have walked its hallowed halls in their time!

Today we are outside Bishop Percy's house at the bottom of the Cartway in Bridgnorth, where a yellow Glasdon Nestor 90 has taken up residence in this historic riverside area of the town.

Bishop Percy's House was built for Richard Forster in 1580 and one of very few buildings to survive the great fire of 1646 during the English Civil War. Originally known as 'Forster's Folly' it takes it's modern day name from Thomas Percy, Bishop of Dromore and author of 'Reliques of English Poetry', who was born here in 1729.

Today's lyrics are a mangling of the Battle of Otterburn by June Tabor, a traditional song that was included in Bishop Percy's hugely influential tome:

A double EIIR postbox and a yellow grit bin stand adjacent to each other against a stone wall. In an attempt to make the image more interesting, the photographer has cropped it so that three green finger post signs appear in the top right corner. These feature a walking figure and directions to Toilets, Westway Centre & so on. Thus, the image features red, yellow & green. Sigh.

Today, we're in Wesley Road, Ironbridge, close to the Golden Ball pub, where a yellow Sportmark Beehive grit bin stands between two posts in a small, roadside shrubbery overlooking some garages and an area of hardstanding in this hilly area of the town.

In the background, the distinctive spire of the Gothic, Victorian-era Wesleyan Infants school can be seen. It was built in 1858, and is now private housing.

If you're ever in the area, I recommend walking towards the garages and turning left through the metal pagoda into the delightful, and little-known Galleon Park (which takes its name from a wooden ship that was constructed here as a feature... but has since rotted away!).

A yellow Sportsmark beehive grit bin stands on the pavement in the foreground, as the old A5 road (which once connected London to Holyhead) winds its way through the hamlet of Queens Head in northwest Shropshire.

In the middleground, just beyond the junction with the modern day bypass, is the Queens Head pub. A 19th Century Inn that once served the local canal wharf. Just behind the grit bin, a metal crash barrier denotes the location of an overbridge where that waterway passes under the road.

The Montgomery Canal, which once connected this part of the county to Newtown, in mid-Wales, closed in the 1940s but has been under restoration since 1969. Boats have been in regular use here again since the 1990s.
