The image features three signs with typographic designs by the French designer. Two signs display the word "Metropolitain" in capital letters, each with different Art Nouveau fonts. Another sign shows the word "Entree", also in an Art Nouveau style. It is clear that these are preliminary studies for the signs that were later chosen for the Metro entrances.
The image depicts a design for an elegant ornamentation for a wrought-iron railing in the Art Nouveau style. The detailed drawing still includes the guiding lines for the underlying construction and contains notes. Even in this draft, one can see how delicate and light the metal version might appear later.
I am referring back to my earlier image of the #metro entrance designed by Hector #Guimard. Here are two of his #designs that were displayed at the Musée d'Orsay in 2024. Soon, his designs will have their own museum in #Paris:
