Stunning image of Cometary Globule CG4, a vast dusty cloud 1300 light-years away in the constellation Puppis. Its head spans 1.5 light-years, tail 8, containing enough material for several suns & exhibiting ongoing star formation. A distant galaxy is visible in the background, over 100 million light-years away. The image shows CG4's relationship to the Vela Supernova Remnant & the Gum Nebula.

Wide-angle image of the Gum Nebula, a large and faint supernova remnant spanning 40 degrees across the sky in the constellations Puppis and Vela. Its reddish hues are subtly visible against a backdrop of countless stars. The nebula is remarkably close, ranging from 450 to 1500 light-years away, with much of its formation still a mystery.
