🎉 Another great update from Olympia. #WALeg just passed #HB1217, aka Rent Stabilization
🏘️ That means renters have more predictability in their housing costs and can better plan for their futures; and it means more stability for our housing crisis.
ON to the Senate!
DYK-
🪴 88% of folks in WA support more housing near transit?
🪴 72% support rent stabilization
These are common-sense, popular policies that #WALeg should prioritize passing before floor cutoff on March 12.
You can help- share this post, and email your reps to support #HB1217 and #HB1491
#SB522 & #HB1217 are bills in the WA State Legislature for #rentcap on annual rent increases. Please check out the #WAStateLegislature site and send a comment to your representatives in support of these bills:

Rep. Emily Alvarado, bill sponsor:
"We can, and must, both build homes and protect people now from rent increases." Says no one bill is a silver bullet, but #HB1217 is a component of the solution
Washington’s rent stabilization bill is back! #HB1217 would cap rent increases at no more than 7%/year, while exempting new builds subsidized housing where rent is determined based on income.
This is a sensible solution that minimizes the risk of unintended consequences. Let’s get it done! #waleg
