In 2026, there are still jurisdictions—including some states in the US—that criminalize HIV transmission or enhance criminal charges for HIV+ people.

HIV is not a crime. Criminalization fuels stigma, discourages testing, and harms Black, Brown, queer, trans communities. Science is clear: U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable).

Public health means care, access, and dignity and not punishment.
