I went to the Horicon Marsh to look for birds. We found many, including this Red-Winged Blackbird, which is looking for something among the cattail fluff. It probably isn't seeds, since they are so tiny, I can't imagine it is worth the calorie expenditure. #horiconmarsh #birds #Wisconsin

Two faraway Great Egrets at Horicon Marsh in Wisconsin. The marsh waters are riddled with old hardwood stumps and lined by deep reed beds. There is a nice stand of trees behind the reeds. This is the far shore of the marsh at one water feature on the Auto Tour.
Another of Horicon Marsh, in Wisconsin. Every time that I return home from there and view my photos, it gives me a deeper appreciation for it's size and beauty. Two Great Egrets are at the far shore.

A secluded water feature at a large marsh. This view is about 1/4 mile away on a hilly overlook. Reeds are growing all around the marsh water and there is a treeline behind the water.
The image shows a swampy location at a large marsh. There are thriving trees and snags (dead trees) near calm marsh waters. Tree swallows love to hang oput here and catch bugs.

A few (three) Great Egrets enjoying their habitat in the marsh waters with huge reeds and a nice tree line behind them.
A few Trumpeter Swans with a view of hundreds of acres of reeds behind them.
The Great Egrets hang out socializing and fishing quite a distance from humans usually at this water feature, but sometimes the photographer gets lucky and they come closer.
A couple of turtle sunning on a log near the Great Egrets. It's lovely to see how all the species share the beautiful habitat they have there.

A whitetail deer fawn looking down a road at a marsh.
A whitetail fawn bolting away from being out in the open. It's beautiful white tail is large and full. It's ears are turned 180 back towards me.
This shot was far away, but I was being watched at Horicon. A fawn, still with it's spots looking down the auto tour road. Then poof, only a glimpse at the tail.

A pair of soras in a marsh. The one of the left has its wings spread and appears to be jumping or flying a short distance from the water over to a small branch. There is a depression in the water and a splash of water coming up from where it took off. The other one is standing over to the right looking at the other one.
