Made this skirt and top, living my cottagecore life haha #sewing #historybounding
As it is an end-of-19th century walking skirt and two very soft fabrics, the proper things would be to add stiffening layer to the bottom part. But I don't have anything useful, and I'm not sure what kind of material should I get to keep things both natural and gently washable on occasion. I […]
Yesterday I managed to interline and thread-mark the rest of my big skirt pieces. Tried a new method (for me) – laying the cut piece of fashion fabric very smoothly on the uncut lining, basting on the seamlines together and then cutting out the lining piece. The contemporary method would be to […]
As the most sane person, I've spent months complaining that I don't have enough linen shifts... and then I spent yesterday 6 hours on the floor cutting out and threadmarking wool walking skirt. And now my whole body is sore muscles. #sewing #LaumaŠuj
Love this top from 1926. I have a similar modern piece, except for the neckline. Times like this I really wish I could sew properly. Guess I put it in the "need to get quotes on tailoring" pile. 😎 #HistoricalFashion #HistoryBounding
Idag är det sydag (alla dagar kan vara sydag), dagens projekt börjar med en enkel underkjol på handvevad symaskin (det är så betydligt mycket trevligare ljud från den).

A person stands in a garden, wearing a floral-patterned robe with wide sleeves. Their head is replaced with a cartoon fox emoji. Behind them is a green bush and a fence. The ground is covered with grass and fallen leaves.
A person is standing in front of a fence, wearing a floral robe over a white dress. Their face is obscured by a fox emoji mask, and they are surrounded by greenery and outdoor scenery.
A person with long, wavy hair is standing with their back to the camera, wearing a long floral dress featuring various colors of flowers. They are positioned in a green outdoor area, surrounded by shrubs and a fence.
Okay everyone: Tea Gown! I may need to make some small adjustments to the tie but overall I am happy with it! I fully expected to hate it cause this is like couch fabric I got a bunch of cheap at the thrift store but the sheet I used for the liner actually […]

Decided to forgo the handstitching flat felled seams for my late 19th / early 20th century drawers and instead topstitch by machine. I wouldn't know, but I sincerely suspect that the historical ladies might have done the same occasionally, when in hurry. Also, it is not like anybody will notice […]
Got on a whim 2,5 metres of some kind of mistery wool fabric on sale. Last piece, incredibly soft and pleasant to touch. Medium weight I think. Gray with thin, almost invisible pinstripe. 1,54 wide.
I could make an interlined Victorian walking skirt... I wonder what other options I have? […]

SPEAKING OF 1660s MENSWEAR!!! Fantastical Follies has the next ep up of the 1660s peacock!! The strange open coat or "bolero doublet" as I have heard some people refer to it.

Bought fabric for a somewhat medieval circle skirt today and calculated I have to hand sew about 12 meters 🫠 TWELVE METERS #handsewing #historybounding #Gewandung #laboroflove #sewingproject
A red headed woman, in black blouse and skirt standing in front of big ferns and trees.
Summer arrived, and I have some plans. A sketching course, some fairs and hopefully finding time to learn new skills and start some creative projects. ☺️

Fragment of a light gray skirt. A thin white linen waistband is partially visible, it features 2 small holes neatly stitched with buttonhole stitch and a drawstring - thin synthetic cord - coming out of them. The skirt fabric is lightweight and very flowy, but nothing much about skirt construction is visible. The drawstring is reused leftover string form curtain gathers.
Perks of wearing a corset: it is ok to tie a lightweight petticoat with a string. This semi-contemporary silk skirt had fabric encased elastic waistband, but there was something terribly wrong with the tensions, because as soon as I started actually wearing them the […]

A red headed woman in a black blouse and skirt with a snake belt, touching some big fern leafs.
Went on a long walk, and the fern is so beautiful right now. 🥰
I work on figuring out what I love doing, and to just try as many things as possible. It is a slow journey, but it brings joy.

My dermatologist was delightfully self-aware: "It is easy for doctors to suggest, but not everybody has the ability to comply. You have to figure out for yourself, how much you can, but it would be best to iron all your adjacent underwear..."
Me, in my head: well, well, well, ironing linen […]

A cropped photo of a woman wearing a striped blouse and a grey wool skirt outside. She is holding one side of the skirt out to show how full it is.
So this is the skirt from the pattern I'm nearly done with! I'm looking for a few pattern testers, anyone interested? I drafted it for 27"-47" waists, so anyone in that range. #sewing #historybounding

A photo of me standing in a garden with my hand on a rock. I'm wearing a steeley blue linen dress, with 3/4 length sleeves, a collar, and buttons up the front. It has about a knee-length circle skirt and a very vintage feel to it. My hair is also styled up in a braided bun.
Another photo of me in the dress walking across some rocks on a creek. This time you can see my shoes which are again from American Duchess
Me sitting on a ledge and looking up at something
Me looking down at some rocks.
I had this blue linen for Forever and last year finally decided to actually do something with it, and here that something is!

A photo of someone in a black blouse, black boots, and a blue skirt with a waistband that has peacocks embroidered on it. They're standing on a path amongst some plants, and twirling the skirt so it flares out
The person standing in the same outfit in a doorway, looking out into the room they're leaving as they step through it
The person smiling and sitting on a brick ledge of a flower garden.
The person examining a rather large leaf in the conservatory.
My aunt gave me just a little of this trim a while ago and I thought it would make a lovely waistband on a skirt, so I made this outfit!

A photo of someone standing near a lake and reading a book. There are fall leaves all around the nearby tree branches and on the ground. The person is wearing black boots, a long green skirt, and a white blouse.
The person sitting on the edge of a stone platform with their hands placed on their knee. There's a black ribbon in their hair.
A shot of the outfit from behind, where their hair is blowing dramatically in the wind. (This one does not show off the outfit very well but I feel like I look like a fantasy heroine here so I had to include it.)
The person standing with a book in their hand and looking off to the side.
I asked my friend to take photos of this outfit I made a while ago, and she said "I have a vision" and handed me her fanciest books as props
