Currently the favourite HAPPY plant - Rue-leaved Saxifrage. This tiny gem was in Bridge Street, but might pop up in all sorts of places around town.
Danish Scurvy Grass with heart-shaped leaves on the pavement near ASDA.
Honorary members of "HAPPY", there were dozens of these beetles which were a bit more metallic than the photo shows. Very likely they are called Altica lythri (no common name) and live on the Willowherb growing in the Hiz near Bridge street.
An understated member of the cabbage family: Thale Cress (Arabidopsis thaliana).
Last week there was a small meeting of the Hitchin Association of Pavement Plant Yokels (aka "HAPPY" for short, a sub-committee of #HitchinNatureNetwork). We happily pottered round town trying not to appear too weird (at least @phil-wildlife.bsky.social did!) Thanks Phil for photos, text & acronym!๐
