ONE YEAR AGO: 7 May 2024 the UK Government’s food labelling consultation closed. Today: 7 May 2025 sill no plans to fix misleading food labels on animal products.

Although most UK farmed animals are reared in intensive systems, there’s no law requiring food labels to say how an animal was farmed - except for eggs.
The UK Government must introduce an #HonestLabelling scheme so consumers can make informed decisions.

Not only is this unfair to farmers who lose out to lower welfare products, but it's unfair to consumers, like you, who deserve to know the truth.

Shockingly, there are no requirements for labels to state how animals farmed for meat & dairy are kept.
Misleading terms such as ‘farm fresh’ can be applied to products from animals that have been intensively farmed.
