And with that, #IETF120 is over! So many new insights and friends. I have a lot to digest and follow up on. Tomorrow: OurNetworks.ca

I just happened to notice #IETF in Vancouver is #IETF120
100 IETFs ago, I attended my first IETF: IETF 20.
This landed rather heavily for me.
At @ntnsndr's talk at #IETF120 on governable online spaces. I know he writes about how hard it is to make a #Mastodon instance into a coop, but at the same time, I also hear everyone's questions in the room and think that the #fediverse is a solid way forward for democratizing online. It can be […]
I'm a little in over my head, but I'm just about to give a presentation based on my book about #Mastodon to the #IETF120 meeting. I'm going to talk about the development of #ActivityPub to a group interested in standards development […]

finally on the choo choo to Vancouver for #IETF120 and @ournetworks.ca!
What a day talking about interoperable instant messaging protocols, deep space networking, and a bunch of other amazing things! #IETF120 has been super stimulating. So many interesting people here. Looking forward to tomorrow morning’s Decentralization of the Internet Research Group (dinrg)

Good morning #IETF120! Today is the first day of the official meeting week. My first session is with GAIA, the Global Access to the Internet for All working group, chaired by Jane Coffin who I had the pleasure of meeting at the IGF last year.
Just wrote a pull request to the IETF Datatracker, and I feel like this is somehow the geekiest contribution I've ever made somehow: https://github.com/ietf-tools/datatracker/pull/7729

Was a nice introduction to #IETF120 just now, certainly feeling a bit more confident about attending it now.

Screencap of text: Project Info. atproto is an open federated social web protocol. The identity and auth system builds on open standards like DNS, DIDs (W3C), HTTP, and OAuth. The challenges of using Auth between multiple independent hosts and multiple independent client software implementations are similar to challenges with ActivityPub, and an area of work at the ETF. This hackathon project involves prototyping and demonstrating interoperation between different types of clients and hosts.
Only 2 days left until the #IETF120 hackathon! Myself and @bmann.ca will be supporting @bnewbold.net in a project prototyping interoperability using #atproto
Come join us! The IETF hackathon is free for everyone.

Come join me at the #LOCALHOSTVan social next Thursday, July 25th.
We've got Osito events booked (same space as @mvdemos_), some short tech presentations, and a discussion about building ✨Vancouver energy✨

Bluesky stepped up to support the community by sponsoring the #LOCALHOSTVan social. @bnewbold.net is attending #IETF120 this month, and will be giving us a talk at the LOCALHOST Social on Thursday July 25th. I hope to see you there and at other LOCALHOST events (as well as at the IETF meeting!)

It was fun to get out some of our thoughts on possible connections between #IETF / #IETF120 and a smaller volunteer event like @ournetworks.ca --
Thanks @chadkoh.com!

I will be there, so come say Hi if you see me! 👋
#IETF120 is taking place in Vancouver next month. I will be there (HMU!) but we are also gonna hold some side community events. We're getting some nice speakers together and there is an opportunity for you to add your events too! Dets in the thread!👇
We've taken this as an excuse to both participate in #IETF120 — the starting Hackathon is free to attend — as well as to explore what a local approach to the Internet means. Software, hardware, art, media, and tech of our own.
