There is so much going on here. The facing stone has fallen away revealing the rubble fill underneath, but even more interesting revealing how the segmental pointed rere arch has been built #InTheCastleChapel #GoodrichCastle #HeidiAtGoodrich

The chapel would have been well decorated, perhaps even opulent, but you would never forget that it's sited in a fortification. Slit between chapel and gatehouse (left) and slot for main gate drawbar which when retracted would extend across the altar #InTheCastleChapel (6/6)
The chapel walls are dotted with some very interesting #Spolia of which two examples here. Probably added much later and even possibly after the chapel fell into disuse #InTheCastleChapel (5/6)
Cusped pointed piscina at the midpoint on the north (left) and south wall. These are probably re-set as they have no religious purpose in this position... although there may be another interpretation as we will later discover #InTheCastleChapel (4/6)
Aumbry (probably) to the north of the east window. Roughly hewed rebate for a door, but no sign of any fixings (not a pintle to be had) #InTheCastleChapel (3/6)
Piscina (slighted) and sedilia to the south of the east window. Cusped and C13 in style. A pleasing residue of lime coating and paint still persists #InTheCastleChapel (2/6)
Mouse find castle chapels fascinating. Some are lost or hard to find (detective work required) but this is almost intact. As with #ChepstowCastle it is to the left of the gatehouse (as facing). It is close to east-west aligned. West elevation and entrance #InTheCastleChapel (1/6)
