Who's watching Interior Chinatown? I wish I'd known it was a book before I started watching the show. Now I'm hooked. There'll be no waiting to read the book first.
I'll still read it, but also, any book recommendations with a similar vibe?

Interior Chinatown was super good. I appreciate it how funny it was while telling a very heartfelt and genuine story. It for sure made me want to read more from this author. 5/5 ⭐ #InteriorChinatown #CharlesYu #Booksky
I'm about a third of the way through Interior Chinatown and it's so good so far. It's funny, quick and compelling. The formatting was a bit hard to get used to but once I did its been so hard to put down. #CharlesYu #InteriorChinatown #Booksky

I finished the last few episodes yesterday. I liked #InteriorChinatown overall, but the meta narrative felt much stronger earlier in the series than in the finale.
I haven't read the book, so I didn't know how it compares. I might add it to my reading list, however.
Oh my god! The Black & White intro for episode 7 of #InteriorChinatown! lol
“Im not saying I need someone to die. Im just saying if someone /were/ to die, I’d want to be the first one to find it.” Great opening lines. I get it. I’m the main character, Generic Asian Man, as well bc this is the universal human desire #InteriorChinatown (incredible title, incredible premise)
I loved both #OFMD and #RezDogs. Also enjoyed #InteriorChinatown and #TimeBandits (2024). It’s hard to find productions that both my grown children also like, but it’s easy when Taika Waititi is involved.
Imagine if Luigi Pirandello wrote a TV Show about a Chinese Waiter who finds himself as a Minor Character in a Cheesy Police Procedural
If that Sounds Interesting to You, Check Out #InteriorChinatown
I’m 4 Episodes In and Loving It

📺 👍🏻👍🏻
#InteriorChinatown saw that it took awards this year. Decided to take a gander. Willis Wu, a waiter in a Chinese restaraunt, who has the super power of being completely invisible to the Chinatown squad, investigates the disappearance of his brother. Funny.
Taika ‘Waititi executive-produced Interior Chinatown and directed its pilot episode. While this show does not have the blunt humanism of his 2021 show, Reservation Dogs, or the soaring romance of Our Flag Means Death, or even the surprising compassion of What We Do in the Shadows, it is, in some ways, the most directly expressive of Waititi’s TV projects. It is, indeed, a show about how people don’t usually make shows about people like Willis Wu. The plights of Willis in Interior Chinatown and of Guillermo in What We Do in the Shadows and of Bear Smallhill and Elora Danan in Reservation Dogs are different, but these characters share a grasping desire to be something else, to find a way in the world other than the one plotted out for them. These shows, in contrast to (those) workplace mockumentaries, don’t have the luxury of cynicism. They have to be energized by some crazy, improbable hope in order to exist at all. The world is a dire place. People, especially people in power, are unkind, uncompassionate, inhuman. But, at the margins, there are misadventures being had, lives being lived. They aren’t a culture fit, but the culture, bit by bit, is changing.’ From: https://newrepublic.com/article/189180/taika-waititi-interior-chinatown-shadows
Taika ‘Waititi exec-produced #InteriorChinatown... it doesn’t have the blunt humanism of #ReservationDogs, or soaring romance of Our Flag Means Death #OFMD, or compassion of #WWDITS, it is… the most … expressive of Waititi’s TV projects.

I love that 4th one, because I love how happy he looks when he gets to promote his work.
Here are a couple each from #NextGoalWins and #InteriorChinatown:
Nagytotál, félsivatagos amerikai táj, a távolban hegyek látszanak, a képet közepén félbevágja egy út, rajta egy autó hajt. Dalszöveg: "Lord, I'd like to leave this town"
Jók ezek a stílusgyakorlatok az #InteriorChinatown -ban :D

I came to tv show first… Charles Wu’s novel just jumped right up TBR too though.
Sorry it took me so long to get to!

Glad I'm getting around to finishing #InteriorChinatown, the TV show.
I knew the 5-episode screeners but not the incident where Jimmy O. Yang has a musical number in an episode that tackles the commercialism of the "Asian American experience."
#InteriorChinatown is *so* good.
In this week's episode, we talk to creator, showrunner, and author Charles Yu about adapting his National Book Award-winning novel into the limited series #InteriorChinatown. 3rdandfairfax.libsyn.com/ep-401-charl... #WGAWpod

I wished we talked more about #InteriorChinatown but that Hulu show was thrown into the whole binge-release.
#InteriorChinatown was absolutely amazing. Now I have to seek out the book.

Finally checking out #InteriorChinatown and as a longtime watcher of police procedurals, this show is hilarious and its social commentary is on point.
The series occasionally gets too meta for its own good. Even so, it’s never not inventive, intriguing, and humorous.

Chloe Bennet is so good in #InteriorChinatown that I want to watch Agents of SHIELD again
