Outer armpit of a black winter coat, the armpit seam is popped and the back-side of the lining of visible in the hole.
Same armpit seam now completely sewn shut, the hand sewing is invisible.
My hand holding a wooden bobbin of vintage synthetic silk (probably polyester) thread. The label says: THE BRITISH THREAD MILLS LTD. LEICESTER SUPERFINE 24 SILK SUBSTITUTE
#SewAndTell Repair week is timely - this morning I heard an awful rip when I put on my coat, the armpit seam popped! The fabric was undamaged so it was just a matter of ladder stitching the seam shut again. I used this vintage synthetic silk doubled for extra strength.
