JG Windows was part of Newcastle's music and cultural heritage. Almost everyone brought up in the region would have visited at some point to listen to new releases, to buy records, printed music, instruments or 'hifi' equipment. Truly, truly sad day for #JGWindows and everyone in the North East 😞

Grainger Arcade with JG Windows, now closed

Another one gone. JG Windows, famous music shop in Newcastle closes its doors for good. Another major North East icon lost as the High Street receeds.

And when I say I hope Central Arcade is preserved, I mean for the public.

The building is listed, but I hope the arcade remains open as a public thoroughfare, even if shops or businesses can't be found to take the place of Windows.
