Indonesian stock market resumes operations, major indices remain volatile
JAKARTA: Trading activities on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) resumed on Wednesday after being temporarily suspended when the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) plunged eight percent in the intraday trading session. Although the market reopened at approximately 2.13pm local time (3.13pm Malaysian time), the leading index remained volatile and declined below the 8,400 level. As of 3.26pm local time, the JCI declined 7.74 percent or 695.37 points to 8,284.86 compared to 8,980.23 at yesterday’s close after opening at 8,393.51.
