A standard upright Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone made of light-coloured stone, weathered with green lichen. The top features the circular badge of the Royal Engineers with a crown. The inscription reads: "1881286 SAPPER J. L. GERRARD ROYAL ENGINEERS 12TH FEBRUARY 1940". Below the text is a large engraved Latin cross. The grave is located in a churchyard with green grass and small white flowers (snowdrops) growing at the base.
