A lot going on here. Looking through three palm tree trunks the image shows an interesting looking and colourful open storefront in Kona, Hawaii, with many different signs and various beach items, postcards, T-shirts etc. It has a slated awning above the entrance, with a painting of a boat in a sunset and palm trees, that is a sign that says "Sunset Traders". Another sign says Sushi, with an arrow acting as the "i" pointing down into what might be the same shop or another that has a freezer in the entrance. Above the slated awning, is the deck of a restaurant that has a green railing fence around it and signs on it advertising burgers and beer. The building has a green roof above which a bright blue sky with puffy white clouds is hinted at. There are some pink flowers and foliage growint up against windows at the left hand side! Phew!

A male Java Finch. His belly is white, with a white collar rising to nearly meet atop his head. His back, tail and wings are black. His face and head a crimson. His feet, beak and eyes are golden. You can see his tongue as he's trying to lick a crumb off his beak.
Can't find any preeners or scratchers for today's #BirdoftheDay so must do the alternate theme of #Finches. Aside from the Saffron finches, which I've posted before, these Java finches are common in #Kona. This one's sticking his tongue out ๐

Looking across Kawa Bay to Ke'eku Heiau at sunset. Black lava rock in the foreground and Kahalu'u Bay in the background. The heiau Keeku heiau, had a grim purpose. It was a luakini, a place of human sacrifice. A 16th-century Maui chief, defeated after a bitter battle, was bloodily sacrificed here. His two dogs died of grief and are buried in the corners of the heiau, as spiritual guardians. Their story is told in petroglyphs visible at low tide (see next photo)

A stick figure with "U" shaped legs seems to be pointing to its left. A fainter and smaller stick figure is upside-down above the first.
A rock formation along the Kona coast. It resembles the profile of a dog, which is why we call it "Dog Rock." Creative, no? It juts out from a large lava boulder and is silhouetted against blue water. A rocky shoreline is visible in the distance.
My favorite vacation spot is volcanic so I have a plethora of stones to photograph at sunset. I offer a trio of pictures for #BlueSkyArtShow with today's #stone theme, all shot in the same area of Keahou, #Kona. Thanks for your indulgence.
