#KamileWayit was 19 years old when police arrested her in Dec 2022 for sharing a #BlankPaper protest video on social media. She was subsequently sentenced to 3 years in prison on the charge of “advocating extremism.” She is due to be released in December this year.

A third Uyghur we read about at our protest was Kamile Wayit, who in 2024 became one of 40 people listed by the European Parliament as unjustly imprisoned in China. She was sentenced for "advocating extremism" after sharing a video of a protest.
