@dienekes.bsky.social's books about WW2 in ze East I can recommend as well. In particular those. Very helpful for my #Kharkov '43 and #Kanev '43 and #Kiev '43 threads on the other platform and here.
Hätten die Roten sich nur besser mit #MilHist beschäftigt... Haben die gleichen Fehler wie bei #Kharkov ' 43 und #Kanev '43 gemacht usw. Arrogante brutale Horden aus dem Osten. 🤷♂️
#OTD 1943 #Kanev #Epilogue | The Dnepr operation effectively marked the end of the Soviet's practical use of airborne forces. The experiences at #Vyazma in 1942 and during the Dnepr campaign laid bare numerous weaknesses within the airborne units, including their reliance 48/X
#OTD 1943 #Kanev | On September 25th, the Germans began systematically searching the countryside with mobile units, showing little concern for Soviet airborne landings. The fragmented and heavily depleted Soviet airborne forces posed no significant threat. While mopping up 45/X
Defo wasn't LHO. Anyway. If you're interested in #MilHist, feel free to follow my #OTD threads. Latest is about #Kanev 1943.

#OTD 1943 #Kanev | In the early mornig hours on September 24th, XXIV Panzer Korps had finished crossing the river, leading the Germans to demolish the Kanev bridge. All motorized units from its divisions had relocated to their designated defensive positions, with the 27/X
managed to transport the majority of its forces across the river at #Kanev. At 2115, 57.InfDiv had successfully crossed the Dnepr River and was positioned both east and west of #Kanev. 112.InfDiv was in the midst of crossing the river to provide reinforcement to German 25/X
supposed to anchor the left flank of the 8.Armee. A significant gap in the German Dnepr defences north of #Kanev would persist until XXIV Panter Korps could successfully withdraw from intense combat against advancing Soviet forces on the north bank of the Dnepr River. 21/X
assumption that German forces were still weak, as they had been just a week prior. Unbeknownst to the Soviets, the situation was rapidly evolving, with a race to reach the Dnepr River in the #Rzhishchev - #Kanev area underway. The outcome held the potential for a 18/X
west bank of the Dnepr in the #Kanev to Traktomirov sector. The outlined defensive perimeter for the corps was to span thirty kilometres in depth and fifteen to twenty kilometres in width. The landings were organized in stages. First, small units would parachute in to clear 13/X
#Prologue #OTD 1943 #VoronezhFront #Kanev | In September 1943, the Soviets executed their final large scale airborne assault during their advance towards the Dnepr River, following their successful defence against the Germans during Unternehmen Zitadelle at Kursk in July. 1/X
Siehe mein #Kanev '43🧵
I did! One the the other side... Ask Herr Blut! #Kharkov #Kanev #Kiev '43, #Korsun '44, as well as #Serbia '14, #GorliceTarnow '15
I got those which were helpful for my successive #OTD 1943 Eastern Front 🧵s that included, #Kharkov, #Kanev, #Kiev
In order to understand F*cism, one has to read about it. I sometimes get labelled as Wehraboo, because of my #OTD #MilHist🧵, notably my #Kharkov #Kanev #Kiev and #Korsun ones. The 1st I'll migrate from the dark side to here in a few days. I think it was a very good thread. x.com/OberstWKlink...
Ta for the feedback! Appreciate it. I spend 100+ hours doing my #OTD #MilHist stuff about #Kharkov '43, #Kanev '43, #Kiev '43, #Korsun '44, #GorliceTarnow '15 etc etc etc.
objectives of this operation were: To encircle and annihilate German forces within the #Kanev salient and to establish a junction between the 1st and 2nd Ukrainian Front as mentioned above. Furthermore, to improve operational boundaries and reduce the overall frontage, 3/X
