"Ohio" is a song written by #NeilYoung in reaction to the #KentStateShootings of May 4, 1970, and performed by #CrosbyStillsNashAndYoung. It was released as a single, backed with #StephenStills's "Find the Cost of Freedom", peaking at number 14 on the US #Billboard #Hot100 and number 16 in Canada.

SOLAR TOTEM #1 ON DRUMM 1967 Solar Totem #1 was constructed on campus in the summer of 1967 as part of a National Defense Education Act "Creativity in Industrial Arts" institute. The project was coordinated by Akron artist and Kent State alumnus Don Drumm, 56. The director of the institute William Bates said, "Cor- Ten steel was SBlortad fof the arniaCt because as this material ages, it forms proteciivs coating and will not fail because of rust ore day." On May 4, 1970, Solar Totem #1 becane one of the iconic svmbols of Kent State history as its stsel was pierced by a bullet from a National Guardsman's rifle Drumm said "Im sorry that all the bullets didn't go into the scuipture instead of hitting the students." The sculpture is now part of the 17.4 acre site recog- nized on the National Register of Historic Places.
