In the middle of green bushes and grasses, two deer look back at the photographer. A mother and her fawn, both are attentive, with their ears on wide alert.

Bernie the Beagle sits just off the path, in a bit of greenery, smiling happily. He is different shades of brown, with a wise old white face. His harness and collar are red, his tag and leash are blue.

Photos from a quick walk at #KleinstuckPreserve. We saw several deer with their fawns. Bernie was polite and did not bark at them - he only howled one time, our whole walk, and that was when we met two ladies who apparently weren’t paying him enough attention.

Multiple storms brought limbs down, creating this tripod structure. We came upon this deer, watching us from underneath the shelter.

A path meanders through woods. The trees wear spring leaves in various shades of green. The afternoon sun is creating a mix of shadow and light among the trees.

Bernie the Beagle sits on a path in the woods. There are trees and brush, out of focus in the background . Bernie is smiling happily, looking off to the left. He is mostly dark brown, with lighter brown ears and still lighter colored legs. His face is white with age, but there is still lots of spring by in his step!

One of our favorite walking trails is at Kleinstuck Preserve, and today it didn’t disappoint. We even saw a couple deer - one relaxing on a hillside, one nervously crossing the path to find greens to munch. (No photos, though.)

A few days ago, temps were in the 60s and the sunshine was lovely. Today temps were back in the 30s, it was snowing, and I once again donned my winter coat (Bernie felt no need for his coat). Such is late winter in Michigan.

There are logs and small branches, covered with snow. A beagle, mostly dark brown but with an old white face, and with ticking on his legs, stands on his hind legs. He is stretching to reach for some scent hidden in the logs and branches and snow.

With temps in the upper 30s, Bernie and I enjoyed a walk at Kleinstuck Preserve. The path was well-packed, but not icy. Bernie found smells enough to thrill a beagle heart.

Beautiful day for a walk - sunny with fresh snow - but so cold!!! In the car, Bernie complained about his coat, but once we were walking, he didn’t seem to mind. Now he’s napping on the couch, and I’ve got a mug of hot chocolate.
