I've now managed to start knitting the second sock as, thank goodness, my fingers feel a lot better 😃 Thanks for all your good wishes. If only it would stop raining! It really affects my joints. Does anyone else suffer because of the damp wet weather?

It's slow going knitting wise at the moment due to arthritis pain 😖 but I managed to finish the first sock eventually, using yarn from Stylecraft designed by Stuart Hillard.

Update. Finished socks! #knitting #knittedsocks
Pink, white and pastels sock with little pink birds marching round the cuff and pink heel and toe. The main part of the sock is in broken seed stitch with the which as the mean colour so it sort of looks like mermaid scales
Very pink birbs for impending kid in law who likes things very pink.

The alternating of rows is a rather fiendish idea for stretching out scraps…
Green sock with a frog face on the toe and several crouching frogs round the cuff. The main part of the sock is in stripes of olive and a variegated brighter set of greens.

Since Mr HandKics has his new socks. It's time to start a pair for myself as a new travel project. Don't worry, photos will be shared of the progress!

The start of a toe-up sock on a circular needle, together with the ball of yarn. It has red, green, and white as well as a bit of glitter. There is also a finished sock and a tiny circular needle. Everything is shown on a light wooden background.
The first sock is done, so I've started the second one 😃

Two in progress socks on small circular needles. On the left is a grey sock with tiny single stitch cables- it is nearly ready to turn the heel. On the right is a larger sock but less far along- cuff and a few inches of leg in two colour brioche stitch- olive green and behind is a colour changing green yarn in various shades.
Today’s poorly lit sock progress. Baby cables with posh wool and experimental brioche. Skills in both improving…

Small part of recently started cuff down sock in grey yarn. There is a 2 by 2 ribbed cuff and three repeats of a baby cable pattern

Two fair isle style socks in black, orange, white and red, lying together on a red blanket
The same socks on youngest’s feet, on a grey blanket

Two socks from different pairs. One is in pinks and yellows, ones is greens and whites.
Time to start two second socks. Over the course of these I have successfully learned continental style with Norwegian purl. I was a flicky English knitter previously and now my hands hardly move at all! Hopefully that will help with my stupid wrists. 🧶 #knitting #knittedSocks
Green camouflage knitted sock on a sock blocker. The leg and top of foot had a broken rib pattern.
That’s one foot for The Invisible Man, I would have finished a Toootie Fooot also but extra length has been requested. Good thing I did it toe up!

(Clicking on the ‘knotting’ typo from yesterday cracked the door on a whole new world, also that time I just tagged socks…)
Two socks on mini circular needles. The top one is in bright multicoloured yarn- pink, purple and yellow with a pretty rib. It is knitted toe up and is currently a short ankle sock. The other is in camouflage greens, white and grey. It is knitted cuff down and would reach about half way down the foot at this point. The whole six other than the heel a sole has a broken rib pattern.
Knitting steadily. I’m thinking of these as “Toootti Foootie” and “The Invisible Man” 🧶 #knotting #knittedSocks
Two half made socks, one top-down green camouflage broken ribbed sock with the heel just finished and one pink, purple, yellow and grey toe-up sock with a speckled rib that is ready to have the heel started.
Further progress, the light is no better… sorry

Two partial socks of different shades. One is toe up and in bright pink, purple and yellow with a speckled rib. The other is green and white camouflage with a bumpy broken rib.
The Progress Of Socks
I don’t usually like having two pairs on the go, but the green ones were urgent. I’m doing one toe up and one toe down for variety…

Toe of a knitted sock with a few rows of speckled rib. The knitting is on a mini circular needle and there is a hand inside to show the shape.

Sock on a sock blocker, hanging in front of a white wall. The sock is mainly knitted in blue and white colour change yarn that creates some nice areas of stripes. The cuff is plain blue and the leg has vertical variegated and black stripes that fade out towards the ankle.
Sock! (Again)
I need to work on tension in the colour work ankle but I’m hoping that some enthusiastic blocking will compensate for my failings.

The gusset increases are now all done, and the heel is turned. Onward to the leg in 2x2 rib! 😃

The heel of a hand knitted blue sock, it has a puckered shape characteristic of this sort of heel and looks a little like Mar-a-Lago lips…
Behold! My version of fiddling as Rome burns… the FLK heel! First time, seems easy and effective but not yet tried on the right sized foot…

The leg parts of two socks with blue ribbed cuffs and a vertical stripe pattern that fades towards the foot. The stripes are black on top of a self striping blue/white
I have finished the yarn-in-each-hand bit of these socks, which as always started off fun and then got old. Need blocking. Also I was trying to mirror the pattern and um added unique charm, or something… I’m still kind of doing TAAT even though I switched to flexi dpns

Two blue ribbed sock cuffs on one circular knitting needle, sitting on top of some yellow fabric printed with sheep.
Trying the two at a time thing, although to be honest I’m not suffering from second sock syndrome at the moment so I think I might return to one at a time after these. I think I prefer getting through each section quickly.
🧶 #knitting #knittedSocks
A pair of hand knit socks paired up with the tops turned over. They are made with self striping yarn in blacks and greys for the main sock, and reds and browns for the toes, heels and ribbed cuffs.
More socks, unblocked and in crappy lighting. You’re welcome.
I tried a Strong heel. It worked fine and I think it’ll fit well, but it was a bit boring to knit.
#knitting #knittedSocks 🧶
Some knitted socks and a ball of yarn are behind some partly knitted socks on two needles with a third ready beside them. Each needle is made of two approximately 10cm tips gained by a short metal cable.
Trying out my new bendy needles for socks. I think I like. Very easy to manage and having the front of the sock on one needle and the back on the other keeps things simple.

I've finished the first sock in this Yarnsmiths yarn called Clowning Around but should be called Dazzle as it reminds me of a Dazzle Ship I saw in Liverpool once! I certainly wasn't expecting it to look like this knitted up...what a surprise 🌞😎
#knitsky #knitting #knittedsocks
A mostly finished cuff down sock in self striping greys and blacks with the start of a red toe. The sock is being measured on a cardboard foot cut out as per the suggested Fish Lips Kiss method. Five bamboo double pointed needles emerge around the top giving a somewhat sinister look.
Ready for me to finish the toe tomorrow.
In the meantime I imagine groups of teenaged socks out drinking will be suitably terrified if they stumble upon this in the forest…

The title and blurb of a sock pattern in a book: “Boot Sock. If your man needs some colourful persuasion to venture into the great outdoors, these may do the trick!”
I got a cheap second hand book of sock patterns and the language is so antiquated I thought it must have been first published in the fifties or something… but it was 2014!
The fact that I *am* currently knitting socks for “my man” is neither here nor there…
#knitting #knittedSocks
Feet with soles together wearing hand knitted socks against a grey background in a pool of light surrounded by shadows. The socks are in self striping yarn in greens, turquoise and pink.
I finished them, my first in ages…and they fit in a very satisfyingly comfy but supportive way 🧶 #knitting #knittedSocks
The old addiction may be back, I have plans…
A knitted sock in front of a daisy patterned cushion. The sock is in a self striping yarn in shades of green and dusty pink.
The first knitted sock off my needles in years. Very extremely exciting. #knittedSocks #knitting 🧶
I shall now wear it while I start the other one…
Hands knitting a sock using double pointed needles. Four of the needles form a sort of square and they’re all well organised.
I’m a peculiar bird and having the other needles moving around and pointing at my eyes gives me a headache.
I forget how to organise them properly for me every time there’s a gap. So here’s a reminder to me.
If the next two dpns make a right angle then all is well.
