Sea Fan Cowl pattern by Veronica Ory Organic forms grow and recede, swirling around the circumference of this cowl. A picot cast on and bind off adds interest and keeps the edges stretchy. Instructions for the Sea Fan pattern are provided in written directions as well as a choice of two charts: a traditional brioche chart on a grid, and a StitchMaps chart, a more visual representation of the knitted fabric. Yarn Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply 100% Superwash Merino Wool; 400 yds/3.9 oz (365 m/110 g) skeins 1 skein in each of 2 colors, shown in Spring Green (light color) and Beanstalk (dark color) Or approximately 250 yards/230 meters of fingering weight yarn in each of two colors - you will need slightly more of the light color than the dark color. Finished Measurements Circumference: 28”/70 cm Height: 8”/20 cm, adjustable Needles US 4 [3.5 mm] circular needle, 24”/60 cm long, or size to obtain gauge Gauge Blocked: 25 stitches and 22 brioche rounds = 4”/10 cm in brioche pattern. Finished this in june and gave it to my mother for her birthday. It was not the easiest thing I ever made, but it turned out very stunning, I think! Lovely use of #briocheknitting . The garter is sort of uneven, from all the dec./incs. but I feel the gray tweed yarn I used makes that more cohesive

The Beloved Ghost shawl, a winged pi shawl worked in single color brioche. It fades from a deep slate gray through a variegated gray and speckled cream. These yarns are from the Snug and Spun fiber company’s Tortured Poets Department collection

The shawl celebration continues! My fade-iest fades! Both the Bloomfield and Beloved Ghost shawls are built for painterly fades, and I always feel so fancy.
