Cables for #showmeyourknits this week. I finished this tank top recently, and I love wearing it. 😊

I got the buttons on my green cardigan!
It’s such a cute grandpa sweater - or at least, it’s just like the cardigans my Grampa wore 🥰

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snakes-heid in a rustic Aran weight yarn, Blacker North Ronaldsay. It is a pale grey hat featuring a wandering line of knit stitches culminating in a slightly lacy snake's head motif.
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snakes-heid in Blacker Lyonesse 4ply in a lovely shade of soft green, worn by a woman photographed in side view. The wandering line of knits and cables looks more delicate in the finer yarn.
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/snakes-heid in Blacker Tamar DK in a lovely shade of deep pink. The wandering knit line and the lacy snake's head are more pronounced here. The hat is displayed on a wooden head mannequin.
#ShowMeYourKnits 🧶 Continuation Cables. I designed & knit this hat, Snake's Heid, some years ago, inspired by some of the design elements I worked out as part of my City and Guilds course. It is adaptable to various weights of yarn, & although it is not very cabled it does have travelling stitches!
More knits to be shared for cable week at #showmeyourknits. TheI think fabulous "Top notes" cowl/poncho, both the "Binault" poncho and cowl and finally the "Middle notes" shawl. I truly enjoy wearing each one of them.

This week its all about cables at #showmeyourknits.
Sharing my "Binault" poncho here, which also has a mate, the "Binault" cowl. I like the understated, easy going look at least for the poncho, the cowl not so much.

It’s cables for #showmeyourknits this week! Here are a pair of mittens and socks I have made in the past couple of years. Mittens I kept and wear often. Socks were gifted. Pattern and designers in alt text.

#showmeyourknits cables this week, I loved knitting this, and wearing . It’s like a hug 🤗
A white woman wearing pink and purple spectacles stands in a conservatory. She is leaning her head towards the camera to display the cabled hat she is wearing. The hat is knit in very chunky yarn and the cables are large and very pink. Pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/an-unoriginal-hat Yarn: Malabrigo Chunky in Damask Rose
This week's #ShowMeYourKnits prompt is Cables. I'm getting back into cables after a very long hiatus. One of the first things I knit, to refresh my cabling muscles😆, was this simple chunky beanie.🧶 It may be an Unoriginal Hat (by Yarn Harlot) but it has been keeping me toasty warm for 2 winters now.
Pattern only available as a kit now unfortunately but I love this cabled wrap. I attached fur pom-poms www.blacksheepwools.com/products/bet...

Mid green cabled throw on the back of a beige sofa bed. The throw has three cabled sections and panels of knit and purl stitches. Pattern is King Cole 5661, yarn King Cole Thetford Forest aran.
#ShowMeYourKnits for cables wk.
At Xmas we bought a new sofa bed which is a sea of beige, so I bought a couple of cushions and am making this cabled throw. It's in King Cole Thetford Forest aran, pattern is K C 5661.
Biggest item I've ever knitted and it's taking sooo long!! I'm not even halfway 😥
Can’t miss cables week on #showmeyourknits without showcasing this gorgeous pattern. www.etsy.com/uk/listing/5...

Currently spending some time deciding on colour, too. They’re a grey/ green type of person & would be happy with either. The current frontrunners 👇, with one emerging favourite (I’ll be interested to see if the internet agrees…) #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶
Also, this will be a looong-term project 😬…
OK, this is a little bit like cheating since I haven’t actually knit this, but youngest has asked for a cabled jumper (🎉) and after much deliberation, we have settled on this 👇.
Prob mods to the neck (funnel yes, buttons no) & it comes in tall! #ShowMeYourKnits 🧶

A scarf in green, yellow and grey with a nice cable down the middle.
A scarf in blue, black and grey in a braided cable design.
Cables this week. I have only done these two while turning more toward colorwork. Cables now on the list. Easy Chunky Cabled Scarf and Chunky Braided Scarf.

Detail of yellow-green cable (XO pattern) with seed stitch separation between cables, in progress on a circular needle, and all on a tan background
#knitsky #showmeyourknits this week’s theme is cables so here’s my XO cardigan vest in progress. Even in the dim light the cable pattern stands out very well.
Lying flat is a lemon yellow cardigan for a 12yr old. Adapted from a late 1960s vintage pattern - for jumper 🙂. It has a high round neck & set-in sleeves. It has loosely twisting cables either side of the button bands - and narrower, tightly twisting rope cables at about half way across the fronts. The looser cable also runs up the center of the sleeves. The rest is Stocking Stitch. Granddaughter also chose very vintage style plastic buttons - opalescent and the same shade of lemon 🍋 The yarn - Luxury 8 ply from Bendigo Woollen Mills, the shade they called ‘Citrus’
A brown beanie hat is shown on a brown ‘wig head’ in a garden - in the background is a dark green painted garden seat, a wooden fence & various plants … The hat is knitted from hand-spun yarn - naturally coloured (undyed) Finn fleece I spun it ‘in the grease’. It is a warm mid-brown. There are alternating cables and ribs running vertically up the beanie and merging at the top - the bottom edge is folded up as a cuff of about 3cm - 1.5” - my own pattern. Hubby lost this hat in the garden for almost 6mths … when found it looked very dirty and sad - it’s been soaked, washed etc and is much better but not as nice as it used to be.
A 12” wooden Artist’s Mannequin wearing a bright yellow cabled jumper and beanie hat is in a garden. Immediately behind the mannequin are lots of strappy green leaves (miniature daffodils if I remember rightly) and in the background, a wooden fence, some trellis, various pots and plants … The jumper has a big (well it looks big! But everything is in miniature) diamond cable up the center front, flanked by narrow twisted ropes, twisted rope cables run up the middle of the long sleeves too. The hat also has narrow cables but we can’t really see them in this photo - the beanie is dominated by a very large Pompom on the top. Patterns my own, yarn - Morris & Sons ‘Empire’ 4ply in Chartreuse
Cables for this week in #showmeyourknits. A cardigan I made granddaughter - her design, a beanie hat I made hubby - from my handspun yarn & perhaps the knitting project I’ve had the most positive feedback on - Aran style jumper for a 12” tall wooden mannequin. #knitsky #handknit more in Alt Text

My mom made this in the 1980s. Good old acrylic. Cat magnet. Still cozy.

RS of garter stitch cardigan with start of cable BO
Gotta share...just started my first cable cast off/bind off 😀😀. This cardigan has cable cast ons and a garter stitch button band so makes sense to BO in something very similar. I'd never done it and I'm really loving the effect!

Grey crochet chain with a bow.
#showmeyourknits I've added details to the back while adding a pocket on the front.
OK, feeling better.
Since it's cables week on #showmeyourknits, what are your goto places for cables, especially Celtic knots and bands?
I know Nora Gaughan's book, Hitomi Shida (though she's mostly doing twisted st) and I looked through Barbara Walker's first cable book.
What else do you like?

A fakey-cable stitch is used for a pair of handknit socks. The yarn us a lovely watery blue-to-green fade yarn. These were a holiday gift for Number One Son a few years ago, and remain one of his favorite pairs.
A toe-to-cuff view of the same watery blue-to-green socks shown as a pair. The background is the "Droplets Blanket" from Purl Soho, the inspiration for the modification to a 3x1 rib of a basic vanilla sock. The blanket is available as a freebie on Ravelry.
#ShowMeYourKnits- Cables Edition.
One of my favorite pairs of the dozens of socks I've made in my knitting life. These are worn and loved by Number One Son.
The yarn is Cascade 'Heritage Wave' in the Seattle colorway, a really long color change yarn, much tamed here 'for reasons.'
