Each place is met with friends and foe, that not only keep Kadara on the path needed but also serve as a challenge needed to overcome. She is presented with many mental and physical obstacles that make her reflect on her life's purpose. Though the narrative is fast-paced, the tone of the story makes the story move at a gradual pace. The first novel only covers part of Kadara's journey and leaves the ending open for what steps she must take next. I think because there are so many names, kingdoms, and places in the story it would benefit from a glossary in addition to a map for the next installment. I would recommend this story for readers who love a good fantasy story filled with heroes, dragons, and a journey of strength.
