Pastel Paradise Positano has been a city for three or four years now that I have wanted to visit. It’s another city like Venice that just seems surreal and can’t exist, but it does. It’s built on the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast and is the most vertical looking city I’ve ever seen. The roads are narrow and winding from the beach up to the top of the town. In between the buildings there are stairs that would be nearly impossible to navigate without Google Maps, but even then it was hard mode because the stairs were often so narrow that Google Maps wasn’t exactly sure which stairs you are on. Google Maps was right in one thing, the stairs was the shortest path, but sticking to the road and walking up it (though longer) is probably much easier. That said, this was another beautiful city in its own right. If you are physically able to hike the stairs or the curvy roads, it’s a must see before you die. Delicious seafood, pasta, and pizza can be found there too. It’s a town famous for lemons, so you can find lots of food and drinks using local lemons. I can’t stop thinking about this place. A Different Way To Live When planning my trip to Italy I initially didn’t plan on going to Venice, but my friend advocated for it pretty hard. He said, “Yes, it’s very touristy, but it’s also amazing.” I trusted him and agreed to go. He was right. It was pretty much only tourists there, but it was so beyond anything like I’ve ever seen. Just arriving by train and walking out of the station was a surreal experience. Right when you exit the station it’s just there before very much like what entering an amusement park looks like. It just looked like something somebody would dream up, but not be a real place that functioned for centuries as a real city, but there it was. This was probably the most photogenic city I’ve ever been to. The light there was beautiful and there is not an ugly place anywhere in the city. It’s all stunningly beautiful. If you’ve never been, it’s a must see. Nothing you have seen in movies, TV, guide books, etc. do it justice. You have to be there in person.
